Impression from the signed and numbered deluxe edition of 50 with large margins, aside from 10 proofs not for sale. Published by VERVE, nos. 37-38, August 1960. In excellent condition. Image size: 14 1/8" x 10 1/4"; Sheet size: 20 1/2" x 15" Catalogue reference: Mourlot 251 This double number of VERVE magazine from August 1960 included the drawings on Biblical themes that Chagall made in 1958-1959, that for the most part he had not used for the series of engravings he made to illustrate the Bible. The Drawings for the Bible included 96 black and white reproductions printed by Draeger, and 24 original color lithographs of which "Assuérus chasse Vasthi" is one.
