In this scene St. Peter appears in the foreground with a sword in his hand preparing to strike Malchus, who has fallen on his lantern. To the right with a noose around his neck, Christ receives a kiss from his betrayer, Judas. The Engraved Passion consists of 16 small plates that emphasize the spiritual rather than the physical suffering of Christ. The Betrayal of Christ also appears as a subject in the Large Passion Woodcuts.
