"Au Soleil du platfond" is a collaborative effort between the artist Juan Gris and the poet Pierre Reverdy. Gris' lithographs were begun in 1916-1917 however he only executed half of the prints for this project before his death, at age 40 in 1927. The artist and author originally intended the book to contain 20 lithographs on stiff cardstock with 20 corresponding poems placed alongside the images. The book presentation was modified as a result of the artist's premature death. This collaborative work, finished 30 years after it was first conceived, was considered to be a tribute to the memory of Juan Gris.
